The existing wastewater treatment plant at the Ledges Condominiums near Hyde Park, NY required replacement as it had reached its useful operational limit.
Milnes Engineering designed and Milnes Construction installed a new packaged extended aeration treatment system supplied by Purestream to meet the discharge permit limits. The steel treatment tanks sit aboveground on a new concrete foundation. The influent is collected in a new buried wet well and pumped to the treatment tanks. Aeration is provided by new Kaeser blowers. A new building was constructed to house the electrical controls and test equipment for the plant operator. The effluent is chlorinated and then de-chlorinated before discharge to the existing outfall.
The site will be screened from view by tree planting and secured by fencing. The existing plant will be demolished after the new plant is certified for operation. Mechanical installation is wrapping up and the control building is being finalized. Central Hudson is to bring in a new power drop to the project.
