Luke a Penn State Wilkes Barre Survey Engineering student started his internship in December of 2021 on the weekends. He started part-time & then transitioned into a full-time intern assisting Milnes Engineering & Surveying department with various field and office exercises.
He feels confident entering into his sophomore year of college with real field experience. His biggest takeaways from on the job learning has been mapping for existing condition plans & bound surveys. He also has enjoyed running survey instrumentation, such as, the GPS Total station, drone & 3D civil software.
In his free time, you can find him doing field work & chores on his family farm, named Carpenters farm. They specialize in dairy cows & pigs. Luke also will work with his 4-H animals in the evenings. He has been a part of this program for the past 10 years. This is his final year participating.
