Milnes Land Surveying Intern Greg Ellsworth hit a big goal in a short amount of time! He has successfully passed the Fundamentals of Surveying (FS) exam. Greg started his internship with Milnes this past March, working Tuesdays and Fridays due to his educational schedule. He has since transitioned into full-time for the summer until his college courses resume. Ellsworth expressed relief that the (FS) exam is out of the way and plans to focus on his studies and continuing his internship during his senior year!
The (FS) is a timed, 110 question exam that is notoriously tricky. The NCEES reports that only 58% of test-takers pass the exam on the first attempt. In addition to his education, his on-the-job training also helped him pass the exam as he was applying his newfound practical knowledge to exam questions.
Greg attributes the accomplishment to preparation with Milnes Chief Land Surveyor Lindy La Rue. Lindy helped him with study tips and tricks and went over practice exams.
Lindy is impressed with Greg’s work ethic, professionalism, intelligence, and ability to quickly adapt to the multiple surveys Milnes Engineering Inc. provides to its clients. The two have been setting goals to help develop Greg’s skills and expose him to new technology allowing him to put the educational theory to a practical, real-world situation.
Greg’s plans for the rest of his internship include obtaining his FAA Drone License and gain more knowledge in Land Surveying.
Again we congratulate Milnes Engineering Inc.’s Intern Greg Ellsworth on passing the Fundamentals of Surveying Exam (FS).
