Milnes Construction has operated as the GC on a roller compacted concrete project for an industrial client in northeast PA, which was designed by Milnes Engineering. Roller compacted concrete (RCC) is a concrete paving method, utilizing a high density paver to lay down a concrete mix which can reach high early strengths. This process allowed for tractor trailer traffic on the 10-acre parking lot within 24 hours of paving. RCC is an incredible product that can reach up to 9,000 psi of compressive strength, and last years beyond conventional asphalt paving.
The paving was done over 11 days with staggered operation to allow trucks to utilize the majority of the site while paving activity was taking place. The quick turn around and great teamwork from all parties involved kept the lot operating smoothly throughout the duration of the project.
