Every month the Milnes Safety Committee meets to keep safety awareness for all levels of their companies. At least one member of the Surveying and Engineering teams takes part, with a minimum of one office Construction project manager as well as at least one field Construction worker. This ensures that both office and field personnel participate and think about safety.
With a current Experience Modification Rate (or EMR) of 0.781, the Milnes Engineering & Construction strives to keep our EMR rating less than one. At Safety Committee Meetings, members review previous incidents while investigating the cause to prevent future accidents. Updated OSHA and HazCom training is scheduled for field employees; new employees will attend OSHA 10 and 30 hour training as appropriate. During the meetings, employees are also reminded and briefed about specific safety concerns to encourage thinking about staying safe.
At times, the Committee makes an unannounced audit of a current jobsite to not only assist the project superintendent in maintaining safety standards but to help Committee members learn to analyze from a safety standpoint and prevent future incidents.
Our goal is to have zero incidents for 2013 and the committee will strive to help achieve it. Milnes Engineering & Construction makes every effort to maintain state guidelines, keep employees trained and informed, and protect workers on the job.
